If: Rapid Conversion

Anglo Kleinkopje Mine

In this scenario, financial incentivization rapidly extracts South Africa’s power generation dependecy on coal, allowing the remaining mine properties to cease mining operations. Renewable power generation across the country encourages a new use for these former mine sites like the Anglo Kleinkopje mine.
After depleting the currently-existing mine sites, a small portion of the site is required to be mined to meet coal resource demands. The remaining land area is not required to be mined and used for other purposes: used for agricultural farming, on-grade solar farming, future expansion of Witbank’s borders, or left undisturbed.
