After the completion of the re-mining phases and the housing development, the tailing will be remediated to accomodate new program. Tailings have become an important part in the collective imaginary of Johannesburg’s inhabitants, which is why rather than being consumed completely by the re-mining operations, it will be re-mined in such a way that it serves a new purpouse. From its desemination into the city fabric to a usable monument of heritage. The tailing will become a sports center, with soccer and rugby fields, basketball courts and running tracks.
