Urban Fabric

This is a map of New Alexandra neighborhood, depicting the existing urban fabric with the introduction of the new typology, on currently vacant land. This map highlights how the introduction of the septic system, though radical in its physical demand, results in subtle but significant urban shifts. The uncorroborated shacks connecting to the new Co-Op evolve into multiple and organic green spots that can make room for backyard landscaping: open spaces for collective and communal activity that is not detached from the living arrangement but in fact is growing from it.
