Waterval Cemetery

Cemetery as a Botanical Plant Nursery


Waterval Cemetery in the north of Johannesburg is used as an example to demonstrate the procedure of using cemeteries as nurseries. Consequently, this procedure transforms the cemeteries into an institution that is a repository of biodiversity and a system for consumption of waste water. The quarry near the site is used as a primary source of water for the cemetery.
