The application of biotechnologies for soil remediation is advantageous for its high performance in assimilating organic and inorganic pollutants while maintaining a lower implementation cost. Each plant specie react when facing a pollutant, breaking it down, destroying it, transforming, or holding it. For instance, while elements derived from petroleum are removed in a few years, heavy metals such as Uranium remain a challenge to the field, and may take decades to process.
